The New “Intergenerational Team” is Impacting Kids and Senior Citizens!
The summer of 2015, Sandy Austin – Founder of the B.I.O.N.I.C. Team – was interviewed about the B.I.O.N.I.C. Team on a local radio station. Ronda Knuth a worker from Sunrise Senior Living at Pinehurst in Englewood, Colorado heard the broadcast and contacted Sandy shortly after the interview.
Ronda shared, “Sandy I heard you on the radio and I would like to start a B.I.O.N.I.C. Team at Sunrise Senior Living at Pinehurst. I think a B.I.O.N.I.C. Team at our place would help our residents in so many ways. Some have been moved out of their lifelong home, some rarely get visitors, and some have health issues and all these situations can leave residents in a discouraging state. Having a B.I.O.N.I.C. Team would help our residents reach out to others facing challenging times and in the process give them purpose and a chance to make a difference in the lives of others. And we would like to team up with your school.”
Sandy was excited with the possibilities of having an intergenerational effort for the B.I.O.N.I.C. Team. So Sunrise started one and Sandy added the new “Intergenerational Team” to the other teams on her B.I.O.N.I.C. Team at Pomona High School in Arvada, Colorado. Sunrise residents meet monthly with the Pomona B.I.O.N.I.C. Team. We will be adding a tab above soon so you can get more information about the B.I.O.N.I.C. “Intergenerational Team” and the collaboration with Sunrise Senior Living at Pinehurst.
